10 on 10 {February 2014}

I truly enjoy participating in the 10 on 10 project every month but it's really hard to be creative when you spent most of your day in a beige office with a beige desk and a beige chair and beige...you get the idea.  This month I decided to go with a theme for my 10 photos, not the most exciting theme, but a theme none the less.

0900
I'm trying to make this manicure last as long as possible but I think it's about time for a new one.

0900
Stamping documents.

1000
Taking notes during a meeting, and f/u means follow up, not what your dirty mind is thinking.

1100
Off to buy a sandwich to go with the soup I brought from home.

1200
Lunch time.

1300
Sending emails.

1400
Making a call.

1500
Entering data.

1600
Snack time.  There is a new farmer selling strawberries daily down the street from our house and I can't get enough!  The homemade whipped cream is delicious too.

1700
My honey took the car today so he dropped me off and picked me up from work, it was nice to start and end my work day with him.

Best of 2013 Instagram Style

Unless you live under a rock (or don't use Instagram), you probably saw the Statigram craze that took over social media last week.  My friend, Nicole, had this genius idea to give some details behind the images.  Since she declared she likes to know the details of...well...everything, I decided to share the good behind each of my 5 most liked photos on Instagram in 2013.

My best friend from college had brain surgery (She has had some illnesses for many years and this was just a "minor" surgery, if there is such a thing.  The surgery was a success and she's doing fine now) and she was really upset about having to shave her hair for the surgery.  I told my husband if it wasn't a huge amount and it wasn't straight down the center of my head (I have my limits here people) that I would shave mine too.  He thought I was joking but when she sent me the picture of how much the Dr had shaved, I said, "let's do this".  He took a little too much pleasure in doing this to me.  It's been almost a year and the hair has grown back to a point when it almost stays up in my almost daily ponytail.

After Jason completed command and I FINALLY finished my degree, we decided to celebrate with a vacation to Okinawa.  We spent a short 24 hours out on Zamami island.  Even though the weather SUCKED, it was a beautiful island and we had a great 24 hours despite the rain.

It was Christmas Eve and we had to make a trip to Coronado to pick up a prescription from the Naval base.  While we were there I made my husband take me to the beach.  It's not every year that I have the opportunity to spend Christmas at the beach, so while we're living in San Diego, I'm going to take advantage of the opportunity!

This was at the end of a photo walk I participated in.  Believe it or not, this is one of the most boring sunsets I've seen since we lived here, I'm just not usually in a good spot to capture them with my camera.

This was for a Fat Mum Slim photo a day prompt "in motion".  Buster is getting pretty old (Although, funny story, not as old as we thought.  While cleaning out our office we were looking at his old vet records and it turns out he's actually only 14, not 16 like we thought) so I've been trying to document more of his life.  He couldn't walk up and down our slick stairs in Japan so I'm incredibly proud of how easily he tackles the stairs at our condo here.

Mission Trails Regional Park

I've been slacking in just about every single aspect of my life lately.  I don't know what's up but seriously, it's out of control.  My health and nutrition are at an all time low, we're not taking advantage of this beautiful area we live in, I haven't been blogging or taking photographs or anything that I usually enjoy, I've just been cruising through the days.  I'm working on fixing it one day at a time.

This weekend I decided we needed to enjoy some of the beautiful weather we've been having here in SoCal so we set out in search of a little hike.  We found this area just 20 minutes from our house and we love it.  I know we'll be back!

I drug my camera and tripod along and set out to take some family photos and document our day.

I even played with some long shutter shots at a creek we found.  It felt good to take some pictures and experiment a bit with some the settings I haven't tried before.

One step at a time!

Hiroshima

Day 28, Tuesday: Only pictures

Today's prompt, only pictures, is the perfect way to share how I spent my Memorial Day.  Living on a military instillation, EVERY day is Memorial Day.  Every day I drive past a home with a gold star flag hanging in the window or see a person wearing a gold star pin or a memorial bracelet in honor of a fallen friend/family member/loved one/fellow soldier.  My husband wears one in honor of 1SG Christoper Rafferty whom he deployed with back in 2006, Jason's first deployment.  It's the only piece of "jewelry" that he wears no-matter-what, even more than he wears his wedding ring.  I am constantly reminded of and remembering those that have made the ultimate sacrificed.  We decided to spend this Memorial Day in Hiroshima.  The last location on my MUST do list while living in Japan.  I cannot think of a better place to spend the day.  I don't think the day needs any words, photos will do.

Photo A Day {Dec}

I'm convinced this will be the 1st photo a day project I stick to for a whole year.  I started back in March so only 2 more months to go to complete 365 days!  This is something that's on my bucket list but I didn't start this out expecting it to be the time I stuck to it.  I love that more and more people are joining in each month and seeing how different people interpret the prompts!

Here are my photos from December.
