August 30x30: Days 25-30

Well folks, the August 30x30 challenge is officially over.  I wish I'd gotten photos of every day but it just wasn't possible this go around.  I'm not sure if I'll do this again in the fall or not.  It'll probably depend on how settled we are and what's happening during that time.  So here are my final 6 outfits for this challenge.

August 30x30: Days 21-24

If you're paying close attention to my posts you might have noticed that days 13-20 never showed up and guess what, they never will.  I was correct to assume that participating in this challenge would make it easy when it came to packing for our move but I totally underestimated how difficult it was going to be to find time to snap a decent photo every day while traveling.  If you look through my ETS road trip post you can kind of see most of the outfits from each day but a full post about them just isn't going to happen.  I kept notes of what I wore each day thinking I would have time to go back and take some photos but I've found more important things to do each day so I haven't and probably won't go back and do that.  However, I didn't give up on the whole challenge.  I might be missing 2 of the days from this weeks update, one of which I didn't even put on real close because we were painting from sun up till sun down, but I've still been participating, even if I have totally sucked at documenting it!  Here is what I do have, and I'm back on track to finish strong with the last few days in August.

Day 21
Now that I'm taking photos inside instead of outside like I did in Japan, a lot of my photos don't show the shoes I wore because we don't wear shoes in our house (yes, we are those people!)  Some days I remembered to put shoes on for the photos and some I didn't.
Day 22
It took some time to find the best place to take the photos so I moved around a bit this week
Day 23
I loved this outfit and I probably would have never worn these items together if it weren't for this challenge!
Day 24
It is incredibly difficult to stand in a way that doesn't make this skirt look silly in photos.  I must have taken 20 shots that day and they all looked funny. Oh well, it's comfy and this one doesn't look bad!

I'm looking forward to seeing what the rest of the awesome ladies wore all week.  You can check out some of their links below.

August 30x30: Days 7-12

So I'm a few days late with this and I haven't read or commented on any blogs in over a week but this is the first time I've been in the same place for more than a few hours.  I'll recap our journey from Japan to San Diego once we actually arrive in San Diego...still a few more days till we get there.
We did get new phones and I decided to go with a windows phone so I also don't have instagram any longer.  It's the only thing keeping me from loving my new phone.  I have until next week to decide if it's worth it to go back to an iPhone!

So, here is week 2.  Week 3 will come from our new home in SD!

Day 7 (last day in our house!)

Day 8

Day 9

Day 10 (last day in Japan!)

Day 11 (30 hour travel day)

Day 12 (our only day in Cincinnati with friends & family)

The whole week!

August 30x30: Days 1-6

I was much wiser when it came to choosing my 30 pieces of clothing this month. which has resulted in me enjoying this challenge this round more than I did last time...but it's only week one so we shall if it continues so smoothly.  Since all of our stuff was packed up last week, I don't have the mini fridge outside that I was using to prop my camera on last time, nor do I have a full length mirror in my house so my husband has had to take all my photos (I'm so lucky he tolerates me!) and I really don't know exactly what I look like until I see the photos.  I did realize on day 5 that the door to our back patio makes a decent substitute for a full length mirror.

don't mind my dirty windows

Day 1
I picked up this skirt at a boutique while I was in New Orleans volunteering a few years ago and I absolutely love it!  It's a tad shorter than I'm comfortable with but it's so beautiful that I deal with the length.
It's hard to see the detail above, here it is a bit closer.

Day 2

Day 3

Day 4

Day 5

Day 6

I almost made it an entire week wearing my hair down which is unheard of for me (especially in the summer) but I spent ALL of day 6 PCS cleaning so the hair went up.  I barely got dressed to go grab some dinner that night.  Overall I'm really happy with week 1.  I think day 5 is my favorite so far.

August 30x30

Kelly is back at it with another 30x30 challenge and since I had so much fun with the ladies who did this challenge in May, I've decided to participate again.  It kind of just made sense since all of my belongings are packed up and on a boat somewhere in the Pacific, I only have what I can carry in a couple suitcases to choose from.  I didn't really plan this out, just sort of tossed some clothes that I like into a pile and that's what I have until I see our stuff on in San Diego.  Had I thought this through a little more, I would have made some different choices but I didn't so all of my pieces this month came from that pile.  Unfortunately I have quite a few duplicate pieces from the challenge in May but they're some of my favorite items of clothing.  Some of the ladies who are doing this challenge have chosen not to shop for the whole month but since I will have access to American shops for the first time in over a year, I will not be joining them in that part of the challenge!  I also chose not to include shoes or jackets in my 30 items.

6 shorts, 3 skirts, 2 jeans, 10 tops, 2 t-shirts, 5 dresses

If you do the math, that's 28, not 30.  I know I'm going to be doing some shopping once I return to the states so I left a little bit of room.  I realize I'm repeating the same mistake I made last time and including quite a few dresses but a majority of the pile I had to choose from was dresses.  I'm working on compiling all the possible outfits from this collection so it will hopefully be easier to get dressed each morning, especially while we're on the road.

Woohoo!  Here we go ladies!

May 30x30 fashion challenge {week 5}

This is my final post for the May 30x30 challenge.  I had fun but I can't wait to get some new pieces out this week, I'm tired of seeing the same stuff every day (and doing laundry).  I celebrated by not getting dress on day 31.  I wore my bathing suit/PJ's all day and it was glorious!

Here are my final 6 outfits.  I'm bummed I have a few repeats but when one sixth of your pieces are dresses, your options are limited!

Day 25

On vacation in Kyoto.

Day 26

Another day of sightseeing in Kyoto & Hiroshima

(forgot to snap a photo of the outfit that day so I had to recreate at home)

Day 27

Finally visiting Miyajima, it's been on my Japan to do list since we arrived.

(And a guest appearance by my husband because there are none of me alone)

Day 28

I love this outfit!

Day 29

It was chilly & rainy...blah!

Day 30

Super casual on day 30!

 The whole month, all together.

I am so thankful to have met an amazing group of bloggers by participating in this challenge.  I believe Kelly is going to do this again in August and since I'll spend most of that month living out of a suitcase anyways, I may try again now that I know how to make better choices!

30x30 Fashion Challenge {week 4 + a SURPRISE}

I'll be honest, I struggled this week (again)!  I had a couple days were I was at the gym in the morning and in the evening and getting dressed in between those gym appearances was difficult.  That combined with a couple rainy days resulted in few underwhelming outfits this week.  I also cheated one day...kind of.  I "work" one day a week so on that day I like to make a little extra effort when I get dressed.  I had a dress planned (and even ironed) then the morning of, I couldn't get the broken zipper to work! I was running late so it became "grab the first acceptable thing you see" which turned out not to be a 30x30 piece but I wore my black tank underneath so after teaching I took off my cheat shirt.

Oh also, they were repainting our house so I lost my decent lighting/non distracting background for taking photos so my I had to move indoors and most of the photos are crap-tastic this week.

Day 19
Church.

Day 20
This day was cool and rainy and I was at the gym twice that day so it wasn't easy to get dressed and feel cute but the umbrella definitely helped! (don't mind the giant black marks on the wall...I might have caught the grill, the whole grill, on fire last summer)

Day 21
I have no idea what I'm looking at it but was the best photo I got that day.  Meh!

Day 22
This was my "Oh $@!+" I'm going to be late day...I even left with may hair up like this which is how I wear it while I'm getting ready.

Day 23
This is what I intended on wearing for day 22.  I had to have my neighbor help me with the dang zipper but we finally got it.  I was actually glad it hadn't worked out the day before because it turned out to be perfect for an outdoor military ceremony.

Day 24
Travel day = comfy clothes!

All together
